The So-Called "Ground-Zero Mosque" controversy

Once again, the Right and those who have nothing else to do with their time, have created a controversy where there really isn't one and America is in full panic over it. The proposed Mosque that is to be built in lower Manhattan is not on hallowed ground, in fact it is four blocks away. Also, the Mosque will be but a part of a community center that also trains chefs. I mean really? Must we as America always have someone to hate? There were Muslim Americans in the Towers that day. There were Muslim Americans among the First Responders as well. Islam did not attack us, terrorists did. We must learn to separate. Should we stop building churches each time some Right-wing Nut bombs an abortion clinic? Of course not. This country was founded on religious freedom, and here we seek to deny that to others simply because of fear-mongering? I am not so proud to be an American right this moment. Let us do something right, and tell the crazies they are...well crazy.

To (some) Black Men...why though

Apparently it is super trendy for (some...before the "not all" chorus lifts every voice and sings) Black men to "drag" black women on social media. My question: why though?? What is going on? Okay, Black men who have "issues" with Black women are nothing new. As a Black woman who is "darker than a brown paper bag," I am quite familiar with all the old tropes: "Black women are too ghetto...don't wear their own hair...don't respect Black men...have too much drama...are loud...destroyed the Black family..." etc., ad infinitum. But here lately, it seems, Black men are well and truly taking issue with us in every imaginable way. Tyrese, French Montana, Trick Daddy, and the like all seem to have, what I am sure they deem, serious grievances with Black woman, and I just don't get it. And let's not talk about the "Hotep" brothers who are quick to, in the same breath call the Black woman God and tell us we need to stop ...

Political blog hiatus is over... just in time for the fall of the Republic

Well Loves, I am back from my..um.. 2 year-long political blog hiatus, and it appears I am just in time for the fall of the Republic. Donald J. Trump is the cotton-picking President of the United States! I will admit, on the night of the election, as the results came in, I cried. Though I was not a big fan of Hillary Clinton's, I most certainly did not want her to lose to the man I call "Cheeto Jesus!" Come on America! Seriously! We go from a professorial President, to one who couldn't spell "professorial" if you gave him the first eleven letters. But, as Americans are wont to do, we dealt in extremes, and handed the country over to a political novice with Neo-Nazi, anti-Semetic, misogynistic, and racists tendencies. *High-Five* Trump has been in the Oval for 87 days, and the world has seen a host of missteps, accusations of incompetence, and of course, the high drama that are his ties to Russia. We could view a timeline of the insanity occurring by way...

Tomi Lahren: Outrage Barbie...please go away

(RawStory.com) What would you get if you mixed Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and Ann Coulter in a nifty Ninja blender? You'd get "Alt-Right" Princess Tomi Lahren. Like one of her ideological fathers, Bill O, Lahren was recently fired from her other daddy's Internet channel, The Blaze , but that doesn't mean she's gone quietly into that good night. Tomi, like Ann Coulter, is a blond, (they say) attractive, white woman with a penchant for giving angry white men stiffies with her screeching about the war on White people, police officers, and, of course, all things Negro . Tomi has appointed herself the far, far Right's spokeswoman where outrage is concerned. Her most inflammatory rants always seem to be ones in which she is taking a black man to task; most notably, her rants against actor Jessie Williams following his acceptance speech at the BET awards last year and Colin Kaepernick regarding is decision to sit during the National Anthem. Her "...
