Mark Levin

For the passed 3 days, I have been listening to the Mark Liven Show via Itunes. My head is about to explode. this guy is nuts. What prompted me to listen? Randi Rhodes has mentioned him on her show several times, and I decided to check him out. I think, in my professional opinion, it is safe to say this guy is insane. His show starts with a voice over stating he has been contacted in his secret, underground bunker. Why would he need to be in a bunker if he believes in his message? As I listened to the show, I wanted to tear my ear-buds out! His is loud, rude, mean-spirited, and angry--and this is with his own listeners. Those who call in are often treated as if they are morons, and they agree with him.

I also got to hear several African-American callers who described themselves as Conservative who belief "Obama is giving the country away." These caller chastised other Black Americans for voting for and supporting the President, and they charge those who do so are ignorant and only support him because he is black. It never seems to dawn on them that the same people who voted for President Obama also voted for Clinton, and other Democrats. Nor does it dawn on them that President Obama would not be President had he not gotten overwhelming support from white Americans.

Mr. Levin is a very crass man. Upon listening to him, I found myself shaking my head because he simply lies to his audience. I tried to be objective, but he makes it very hard because he is not objective by any stretch of the imagination. He rants and raves. He slams his critics. One caller asked him to explain Communism because it seemed the issue was so broad and the message was being lost. He went on a tear about something that had nothing to do with Communism and he never explained it clearly. The caller thanked him for his explanation! How can Americans really be so uninformed that they follow the uninformed. On another show, a caller referenced John Adams' defense of the British soldiers charged with starting the Boston Massacre. the point the caller was trying to make was that even Adams defended so-called combatants and so it should not be seen as odd that the Obama administration is allow detainees to be represented by lawyers in America. Levin, very disrespectfully, advised the caller to never speak of Adams again in comparison to the travesty that is occurring now. He told the caller he needed to go back to school and so on. Why listen to someone who is so disrespectful to those without whom he would have no show.
I am going to try to keep listening, but it is kind of like when I try to watch Fox, my brain just sort of shuts down!

To (some) Black Men...why though

Apparently it is super trendy for (some...before the "not all" chorus lifts every voice and sings) Black men to "drag" black women on social media. My question: why though?? What is going on? Okay, Black men who have "issues" with Black women are nothing new. As a Black woman who is "darker than a brown paper bag," I am quite familiar with all the old tropes: "Black women are too ghetto...don't wear their own hair...don't respect Black men...have too much drama...are loud...destroyed the Black family..." etc., ad infinitum. But here lately, it seems, Black men are well and truly taking issue with us in every imaginable way. Tyrese, French Montana, Trick Daddy, and the like all seem to have, what I am sure they deem, serious grievances with Black woman, and I just don't get it. And let's not talk about the "Hotep" brothers who are quick to, in the same breath call the Black woman God and tell us we need to stop ...

Facebook Bra Color "Scandal"

I have had it with the hoopla over the Facebook Status update. In 2000 my 43 year-old mother died from breast cancer. When I saw the email on FB, it warmed my heart because at the very least, Breast Cancer was on the minds of those forwarding the message and changing their status. I gladly changed my status. My mother had a double mastectomy, but she had a wonderful doctor who helped her get bras that gave her "breasts" and she felt so much better. Everyday, as a young mother, I worry about my risk for developing cancer and I worry about the risk my daughters may face. Breast cancer does not only belong to those who have experienced it alone. It belongs to the mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins, friends, etc. of us all, and any thing that will make it a topic of discussion is fine by me. Of course, changing your FB status won't resolve the cancer issue, but it will get young women talking about this very serious illness. When my mother developed breast cancer, there was...
