Scott Walker misuses Moxy!

Yes, there are times when Moxy can be misused and I must tell you, no one is misusing Moxy more than Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. The Governor is in a full out war with WI Unions. Teachers are number one on the "got to go" list. For weeks, Union members have swarmed the state capitol, and public opinion is largely on their side. Nothing seems to be going as the Right and Governor Walker thought they would. To the contrary, fourteen Democratic Senators has fled the state in an effort to deny the Republican lawmakers the quorum they need to pass the deep cuts to union workers the Governor is demanding. The timeline for the standoff in Wisconsin is an amazing show of Moxy on behalf of the public employees and a really blatant display of Moxy misuse by Governor Walker and his benefactors.

Walker, a "fiscal Conservative," who says the union's right to collective bargaining is terrible for his state, gave tax breaks to companies relocating to Wisconsin. In the deal struck, businesses would not have to pay taxes for two years. While this may sound like a great deal for the state, it actually created the "budget crisis" Walker is using as a reason to take away the collective bargaining rights of the unions.

Recently, I have been doing a lot of reading on the Enlightenment and the great minds it spawned. The 19th century was a period of upheaval all over the globe. The collective mind was being challenged to separate superstition from reason. I find this period of history fascinating based on where we are as a nation currently. The basic premise is Capitalism is a system in which the worker is exploited by the Capitalist to the point of losing his individual freedom of mind and soul. Relationships are based solely on monetary gains and losses, and the worker is generally always on the losing end. For Marx, the only logical outcome and solution would be for workers (the majority) to organize and revolt against the Capitalists (the minority.) Facebook Bra Color "Scandal"

I have had it with the hoopla over the Facebook Status update. In 2000 my 43 year-old mother died from breast cancer. When I saw the email on FB, it warmed my heart because at the very least, Breast Cancer was on the minds of those forwarding the message and changing their status. I gladly changed my status. My mother had a double mastectomy, but she had a wonderful doctor who helped her get bras that gave her "breasts" and she felt so much better. Everyday, as a young mother, I worry about my risk for developing cancer and I worry about the risk my daughters may face. Breast cancer does not only belong to those who have experienced it alone. It belongs to the mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins, friends, etc. of us all, and any thing that will make it a topic of discussion is fine by me.
